John “Wade” King, 73 passed away on October 29th, 2023 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He was born on August 10th, 1950, in Las Cruces, New Mexico to John King and Helen Hicks-King. Wade was married to his sweetheart Kelly for 33 years. He was a beloved husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend to many. Wade embodied what it meant to be a disciple of Christ. He was passionate about his relationship with his Heavenly Father and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He showed by example to his family his love, wisdom, and guidance. His spirit will certainly live on through his children and grandchildren. Wade served in the Air Force, was a teacher and coach. He retired after 36 years as a civil servant for the Department of Defense as a cartographer at White Sands Missile Range. He was passionate about the Second Amendment and the safe use and storage of firearms, and was an instructor for 15 years. He will be missed by many but never forgotten.
Survived by wife Kelly King, son Sean King (wife Lauren King), daughter Kimberly McCarthy (husband Eric McCarthy), Kathryn Miles (husband Craig Miles), Kari King (husband Pete Woodward), Karli Miksell (husband USMC Gunnery Srgt. Theodore Miksell). Grandchildren Connor and Hannah King, Molly, Syd, Bryson Miles. Teddy and Tommy Miksell. Brother Roy King (wife Susan King).
He was proceeded in death by father, John Everett King, and his mother, Helen Adelaide King.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on November 2, 2023, for viewing and visitation at Alamogordo Funeral Home.
The funeral service for John King will be held at 11:00 am Friday November 3, 2023 at Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints - Alamogordo with Loren Spencer officiating.
Pallbearers include Roy King, Sean King, Connor King, Craig Miles, Pete Woodward, and Teddy Miksell.
Honorary Pallbearers include Eric McCarthy, James Metcalf Jr., and Dan Taylor.
Burial will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.
The King family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Scenic Chapel to direct the funeral services.
