Johanna Mae Gipson, 71, was born on March 27, 1955, at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kansas and passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026, after a long illness with her husband by her side at their home here in Alamogordo. She was the oldest daughter of Stanley and Frances Johnson which preceded her in death.

Johanna, or Jo, worked for the Presto company here in Alamogordo for several years and until they shut down operations in Alamogordo. She was active with the VFW Post 7686 here in Alamogordo as well. She and her husband loved to take long drives around the area and the state.

Johanna's husband would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to AmberCare Hospice for the care and compassion they gave Jo while they took care of her.

Johanna is survived by her husband of 23 years, Ronnie Jay Gipson of Alamogordo; her daughter, Sonia Lueras and her family of Sullivan, Missouri; her son, Allen Wills of Tularosa, NM; 4 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild. She is also survived by her sister, Phyllis Drouin of New Hampshire; her brother, Stanley Johnson of Alamogordo; her mother-in-law, Wanda M. Gipson of Alamogordo; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Kenneth and Bonnie Gipson of Alamogordo, NM; brother-in-law Richard Gipson also of Alamogordo, NM; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. At this time any cards, flowers, etc. can be sent to her husband, Ronnie Gipson at 2500 N. Florida Space 95, Alamogordo, NM 88310.

The Gipson family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
