Jeffry Willits Obituary

Jeffry Hal Willits, 67, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020 in Alamogordo, NM.  He was born March 3, 1953 in Leon, Iowa to Paul and Lyla (Snider) Willits.

Jeff was a born salesman.  Starting in his preteen years he sold TV Guide weekly, on his bicycle, to over 50 regular customers.  He then threw a paper route on his motorcycle.  Throughout his high school years he worked at Jack Wheeler Men’s Store.  Upon graduation he moved to Phoenix, AZ and began his career of selling women’s apparel to large and small retail stores in Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico.  Nearing his retirement he opened three women’s apparel retail stores in the Phoenix area.  Upon retiring he moved back to Alamogordo.

Jeff loved to golf throughout his life.  He loved to spend time golfing and visiting with friends at Desert Lakes Golf Course in Alamogordo.  He loved eating and socializing at the 19th Hole.  When Jeff wasn’t golfing, he was enjoying time spent with friends.  He loved to dance, which introduced him to his life partner, Margaret Maez.  They enjoyed dancing, playing pool, visiting friends and listening to old country music.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Lyla Willits, his Uncle Bill McBroom and cousin, Brick Holcomb.

He is survived by his 2 sisters, Jean Ann Sullivan (Fred), and Lee Ellen Willits (Gayle), Aunt Mary Jo Holcomb, and Life Partner Margaret Maez.

Per Jeff’s wishes, he will be cremated and no services will be held.  His sisters will inter his ashes at a later date.

All who knew Jeff observed his love for all animals.  Should friends desire, contributions can be made to a local animal charity of their choosing.

The Willits family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
