In the early morning hours of June 9, 2026, Javier Jose Gonzales was courageously fighting Stage 4 terminal cancer. Our Lord and savior extended his healing hand which Javier grabbed onto and left this world for eternal rest. He was at home surrounded by his loving family in Alamogordo, New Mexico. 

Javier fought his way into this world being born prematurely on July 16, 1977, in Roswell, New Mexico. He was welcomed by his loving mother, Patricia Ann Gonzales; grandparents, Jose S. and Virginia M. Gonzales; and his big brother, Julian. They all helped raise him into the man he became.

Though 48 years seems so short, Javier accomplished many things and touched many hearts. He began his schooling in Tularosa, NM. He later moved to San Patricio, NM where attended Hondo High School and graduated in 1995. Through his schooling, he made friendships that lasted a lifetime. Javier played little league baseball, football, along with High school football and basketball. He was a Hondo fiesta dancer, something he took pride in participating in. After graduating, he attended Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM. Javier became a brother of Omega Delta Phi. He attended schooling until his health began to affect his day-to-day abilities. He then moved back to Tularosa and worked for a brief time at the Inn of the Mountain Gods. As his health began to worsen, Javier was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and given weeks to live. He was sent to UNM cancer center in Albuquerque, NM. With his family and friends behind him, his grandma by his side, and Mrs. MaAnemy MD and her amazing team, he began his battle against cancer. Though scientifically he should have died, God’s plan was greater, Javier was blessed with 27 more years. 

After many years in Albuquerque, and beating cancer two times, Javier felt it was time to move closer to his grandma and family. He, along with the help of his family, cared for his grandma. When she was hospitalized, he rarely left her side. He wanted to care for her as she had cared for him. 

In 2020, Javier met the love of his life, Hannah. Though their time together was by far not long enough, the love they had for each other was greater than most. They were able to build a family, a home, and a foundation for their children. On June 8, 2026, Javier’s wish to become Hannah’s husband was fulfilled. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for her. 

Javier held many types of jobs in his lifetime, some to include working as a NM Correction Officer in Santa Fe and New Mexico State Police Senior Transportation Inspector in Alamogordo. He received inspector of the year in 2023. Something his family was proud of for him. Javier was always at the gym and offering a helping hand in workouts and advice whenever he could. He owned ATF clothing in Albuquerque as he was inspired by UFC fighters he worked out with like Jon Jones. In 2021, he opened Sweets N Treats food truck with Hannah. Javier took so much pride in making that dream come true. They not only started it to support their family but to honor all the baking his Grandma Gia did. 

Javier had 4 children whom he loved with all his heart and always wanted the best for them. His miracle daughter, Cara, his miracle son, Zander, and his bonus daughters, Emma and Lilly. He enjoyed doing many things with them. A few to include going to the movie theater, hiking, camping, rock hunting, Sunday funday, and just being together. Javier loved listening to music, especially country, holiday dinners at his sisters, water fights, helping when needed, even if it was driving cross country. He always wanted to do all he could for the ones he loved. He enjoyed attending family functions, but more importantly just being there for his family.

Javier took pride in his roles of being a son, grandson, husband, dad, brother, uncle, great uncle, and cousin. He loved with his whole heart and always wanted you to know. He will be loved forever and never forgotten. He was our Gentle Giant and Fierce Protector.

Javier is survived by his loving wife, Hannah Gonzales; his daughters, Cara, Emma, Lilly; son, Zander Gonzales; brothers, Julian Gonzales and wife Jessica, Tomas Guilez and wife Park; his sister, Teresa Sanchez and husband Matthew;. sisters-in-law, Joanna, Bethany Pinkham, Hosanna Polage, Ruth Seitz; nieces and nephews, Selena, Ryan, Sydney, Dane, David and Skyler, Timothy and Emilee, Samuel, Abi, Camie, Milo, Deauntae, Ethan, Kyle, Serenity, Jeni, Joshua, Xavier, Kymberly, Amelia; great nieces, Scarlet and Adalida Sanchez; mother-in-law, Kimberly Sheley; grandmas, Alicia Rizo, Christine Torres; great aunt, Orlidia Molinar; aunts, Alma Padilla, Marisela Rizo Lucero; uncles, Lionel Gonzales, David Rizo, Richard Rizo and wife Loudres; special cousins, Brenda, Phil, Eddie, Marcos, Chassidy, Justine, Linda, Monica, Christopher; all his friends that became family.

He is proceded in death by his mother, Patricia Ann Rizo; stepdad, Franciso Diaz Rizo; his maternal grandparents, Jose S. and Virginia M. Gonzales; grandfather, Francisco Diaz; uncles, Jamie Rizo, Jose Rizo; great uncles, Andrew Herrera and wife Tuti, Martin Herrera, Augustine Molinar; great grandparents, Julian and Natalia Herrera. 

Pallbears will be his brothers and nephews to include, Julian Gonzales, Matthew Sanchez, Tomas Guilez, Eddie Barreras, Marcos Barreras, Ryan Gonzales. David Sanchez, Timothy Sanchez, and Samuel Sanchez. 

Honorary Pallbearers include, Omega Delta Phi brothers, all of his gym partners over the years, close co-workers, and friends who became family. There are truly more names then we all know, so please know if you felt like any of the above, your included. 

Please join us for Javier’s Service which will be held in San Patricio, New Mexico at St. Jude Catholic Church on July 16, 2026. Rosary will be recited at 9:30 am with Funeral Mass Celebrated at 10:00 am.

Pot Luck dinner will take place after the funeral service at St. Jude Hall next to St. Jude Church.

Burial Service will follow dinner at MT heart family Cemetery. Anyone wishing to attend can follow us to the location.
