Janis Marie Thomas

Janis Marie Thomas was born on December 7, 1963, in Alamogordo, New Mexico to the late Juston Thomas and Luerethia Hilliard. She was an active member of Corinth Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James E. Forney. She was involved with the usher board and the hospitality committee. 

Her pride and joy in life was being a loving mother to Kalin D. Jones of Kadena AB, Japan, Fallon D. Thomas of Houston, Texas, Briani M. Myles of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Tevin R. Thomas of Tallahassee, Florida, Tyra J. Godman of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Lauren S. Campbell of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Taylor. S. Mosley of Birmingham, Alabama; as well as a gracious grandmother of 7 grandchildren who happily referred to “Magaw”. Janis was a kindhearted, compassionate friend and member of the community who was never shy about lending a helping hand. 

Janis truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures of spending time and sharing many laughs with family and friends, taking an active role in supporting the many endeavors of her children and grandchildren and by getting involved in community events. 

On October 30, 2023, the Lord called her home. She leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Alan Lewis; sisters, Sandra Cunningham, Karen Hilliard, and Deirdra Hilliard. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren who thought the world of her. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved like her own and friends that she cared for dearly. 

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Corinth Baptist Church, 400 Delaware Avenue with visitation held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, Janis will be laid to rest at Monte Vista Cemetery. Flowers may be sent to Alamogordo Funeral Home, 2301 E. 1st St., Alamogordo NM.

The Thomas family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
