James (Jim) Moore Obituary

James (Jim) P. Moore, 66, went to be with the Lord on November 29, 2021 in Alamogordo, NM. He was born in Onley, Maryland on October 4, 1955 to Thomas and Vivian Moore.

Jim is Survived by his brother, Thomas A Moore Jr. (Griselda Moore), Bell Moore, his children; Tammy Baker (Michael Baker), Jason Moore (Jessica Sedillo - Moore), Shelby Swimmer and grandchildren, Fred Lawrence (Leslie Lawrence), Cody Baker (Kendra Baker), Colton Baker, Tianna Lawrence (Tyler Gilmore), Kaidyn Lawrence, Natalie Swimmer, Christopher Sedillo - Moore, Gabriel Sedillo - Moore, Madison Swimmer, and Jade Roberts. Great grandchildren; Arianna Otero-Lawrence, Paige Faulk, Aiden Lawrence, and Raelynn Roberts.

He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas A. Moore Sr, his mother Vivian G. Moore, and his brother Stephen P. Moore.

Jim retired in Alamogordo NM, from The United States Air Force after serving 21 years. During his service as an Aircraft Technician he was awarded several medals and commendations for his meritorious service. While in the military Jim traveled the world being stationed in K.I Sawyer AFB, Michigan; Sembach AFB, Ramstein, Germany; and Holloman AFB, New Mexico. Jim obtained multiple degrees to include a Master's in Business Administration and Management from Troy University, and a Master's in Education from NMSU.

Jim was known for his generosity and his contributions to the community and was involved with several local organizations. He volunteered and was an active member with the Knights of Columbus, and The Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. During his lifetime, Jim achieved Eagle Scout, was a certified flight instructor, held an aerospace management certificate, and was a first aid and CPR instructor. He maintained multiple small businesses starting with shoe shining as a boy. Later he owned and operated Jim’s Towing and a Snowplow business in Michigan, In Germany He began Dollar Video later to move the business to Alamogordo. Soon after operations began with Dollar video Jim created Dollar Cab which was taken over and operated by his daughter, and Dollar Auto, later to be taken over by his son and renamed Moore’s Auto Sales. Jim was also known for a plethora of other community-based jobs such as teaching, custodial with APS, and more recently was thrilled to be a substitute with APS and art teacher at Chaparral Middle School.

Like his father, Jim lived life to the fullest. He worked hard and played harder. He enjoyed and loved spending time with his family at gatherings and always brought light to every party. He enjoyed camping, trips to the lake, trail riding, traveling, and sightseeing. He was a thrill seeker and was always taking risks and trying new things. Jim was passionate about everything he did.

Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, November 28, 2022 at St. Jude Parish Catholic Church.

Inurnment will follow at the St. Jude Parish Columbarium.
