Horacio P. Gutierrez,

Horacio P. Gutierrez, beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away in his home on November 13, 2025. Horacio was born on May 25, 1949, in El Paso, Texas to Faustino and Ramona (Pinones) Gutierrez. Raised in the close-knit community of La Luz, Horacio grew up with strong family values, deep faith, and a lifelong commitment to service.  A proud graduate of Alamogordo High School, Class of 1967, Horacio went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Navy. During his military service, he was stationed aboard the USS Nerus, where he worked in administrative operations, work he carried out with discipline, pride, and integrity.  After completing his Naval service, Horacio dedicated more than 30 years to Civil Service, retiring with a legacy of professionalism, loyalty, and unmatched work ethic. 

His commitment to serving others was ongoing. For more than 30 years, he served on the Board of Directors for Alamogordo Home Care and Hospice, contributing his time, leadership, and compassion to ensuring quality care for the community he loved. Horacio was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: brothers, Eugenio, Salvador and Carlos Gutierrez, and his sister, Eleanor Malone. He is survived by his sister, Patricia Gutierrez Sandoval; Carlos’s wife, Toni, and their children; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. Known for his quiet strength and gentle spirit. Horacio leaves behind a legacy of service and kindness. He will be deeply missed, yet his memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Services will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church in La Luz, NM. Rosary will be recited at 10:00 am with Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 am.
