Harry E. Young, 84, of Alamogordo, NM passed away Tuesday April 18, 2023, at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center in Alamogordo surrounded by family. He was born November 14, 1938, in Bearden, Arkansas to Harry Clyde and Ethel Young, the oldest of 8 siblings.
Harry married Mara Eserina, of Vicenza Italy, Aug. 6, 1959, in Tripoli, Libya, Africa. Harry and his wife moved to Alamogordo in 1977, where Harry retired from the Air Force at Holloman AFB. Harry joined the military in 1956 and served for 23 years, a proud veteran in which he was awarded the bronze star. Harry and Mara worked together as travel consultants at First Travel Center. In later years, Harry worked at the Desert Lakes Golf Course as a golf marshal where he was well known to many. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed nothing more than playing a round of golf with friends.
Survivors include 3 sons, Jeffrey and Katherine Young, of Arlington, TX, Dennis and Laurie Young, of Tularosa, NM, and Mark and Ana Young, of Valley View, TX; grandchildren, Shelley Young, of Brooklyn, NY and Garrett Young, of Tularosa, NM; great grandchildren, Coleson, Penny and Eros; his sisters, Linda Schmidt of TX, Sandra Meyers of Arkansas and Beverly Moore of Arkansas; his brothers, James Young of Georgia and Bobby Young of Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mara; his parents; brother, Ronnie Young and sister, Pat Barner.
We celebrate a man who had much to give as a son, husband, and father.
Eulogy will be held at 10:45 am, Saturday, May 20, 2023, at St. Jude Parish Catholic Church followed by Mass and committal service at the Columbarium.
The Young family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the services.
