H. "Scotti" Hardy was born on November 16, 1947, in Fort Benning, Georgia, to C. "Kitty" Solice and Robert J. Solice Sr. Scotti passed away peacefully in hospice care surrounded by loved ones on July 14, 2025. She was the eldest of nine children and was a devoted wife, mother, sister, teacher, and friend.
Scotti was educated in Hamilton, New Jersey where she graduated with honors from Hamilton High West. She carried her love of learning throughout her life earning undergraduate and graduate degrees and dedicated her career to shaping young minds in the Otero County School District until her retirement.
During her years as a military wife, Scotti and her family had the unique opportunity to travel and live abroad. Their time overseas offered her a chance to experience diverse cultures and environments, which she embraced with grace and curiosity. These experiences became cherished memories that added richness to her family's life and deepened her appreciation for the world around her.
Her fervent love of God and devout faithfulness were guiding principles by which she lived her life. Scotti upheld her values of faith in everyday living and giving, touching the lives of everyone she encountered.
In 1972, Scotti married the love of her life, Holland Hardy, and together they built a life rooted in love, faith, and family. They raised their daughter, Chere Hardy, and their son, Benjamin Hardy, and lovingly treated Cedric Solice as their own. Scotti's home was a sanctuary of warmth and kindness, and many in her neighborhood affectionately called her "Mom" or "Grandma."
If you knew Scotti, you knew her love for writing and her gift for creating beautiful correspondence that brightened the days of those around her. Her compassion and generosity will remain cherished by all whose lives she touched.
She leaves to celebrate her life and legacy her beloved husband of more than 50 years, Holland Hardy; daughter, Chere Hardy; son, Benjamin Hardy of Mexico; brother, Frederick Sollee of MD; sister, Cleo "Lois" King (Larry) of Maryland; brother, Andrew Solice Sr. (Sharon) of Maryland; sister, B. "Lynda" Walker of Georgia; sister, Gwendolyn Sparano (Paul) of PA; sister, A. Lanette Mauney (Don) of D.C.; sister, Lavuita Solice of NJ; her special nephew, Cedric Solice of NC; her husband's family; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family.
Scotti was preceded in death by her parents, C. "Kitty" Solice and Robert J. Solice Sr., and her brother, Robert J. Solice Jr.
The Hardy family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
