Guillermo III Aguirre Duran Obituary

Guillermo III Miguel Aguirre Duran passed away on January 10, 2025, in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He was born on November 24, 1935, in La Lobera Guadalupe y Calvo, Chihuahua, Mexico to Guillermo II Aguirre Mendez and Heraclia Duran Cano.

As a child, Guillermo moved the donkey trains that carried the ore out of the silver and gold mines there in Guadalupe y Calvo. Still a young teenager, his desire to prosper in life had him learn to drive trucks. After WWII, in the 50's, Guillermo took advantage of the Usa Bracero Program that brought documented Mexican nationals to alleviate farm labor shortages. In 1958, while working on a cattle ranch, he met Peggy Sanchez and they married soon after. Together Guillermo and Peggy would begin a journey always looking for the best job opportunities, taking them from Lakewood to Hope, Cottonwood, Atoka, Lake Arthur, Pagosa Springs, Carlsbad, Cloudcroft, and finally retiring in Alamogordo.

At a young age Guillermo Aguirre Duran was an accomplished horseman, "Cowboy", with all of the elements pertaining to the occupation. He was also an excellent marksman, "Hunter", enabling him to provide by this means for his immediate and extended family. Still in his 30's, he shifted to farming, achieving incredible success with production of cotton, alfalfa, and Milo maize. It was during this stage of life that he learned to weld; twenty years later, this would prove to be an important asset when working at the Potash Mines in eastern New Mexico.

So our Cowboy, Guillermo Aguirre Duran, at a good old age of 89, has mounted his final steed here on earth, riding off into the sunset.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Sanchez; his children, Guillermo IV Aguirre and wife Victoria Azua, Peggy Esparza, Miguel Antonio Aguirre; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Guillermo II Aguirre and Heraclia Duran; his nanny, Quiteria; siblings, Guillermina Alvidrez and Anastacio Aguirre; stepfather, Concepcion Rubalcaba; step siblings, Lorenso Rubalcaba and Elva Jurado.
