Gerald (Jerry) Kassler, 75, passed away on December 9, 2021 in Alamogordo, New Mexico after a brief battle with metastatic melanoma. He was born on October 19, 1946 in Galveston, TX to George and Georgette Kassler. After graduating from Kirwin High School in 1964, he attended Alvin Junior College where he met his future wife and love of his life, Mary Anne Dybowski Kassler. He moved on to the University of Houston and remained a fierce Cougar fan for life. He delayed finishing his education to join the Air Force in 1968. After learning about the field of Air Traffic Control from a friend, he knew that was his dream job. While tech school for Air Traffic Control was incredibly rigorous, he was highly compatible with the field. After a brief stint as a tower controller, he advanced to Radar Approach Control (RAPCON). During his 20-year career, he spent a year in Thailand and 3 years in England as well as becoming a father of 4 and finishing his Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources from Park College. He retired in 1989 as a Master Sergeant. He then went on to work for the State of New Mexico for 16 years until his second retirement in 2007. His first priority was always his family, followed closely by a love of travel and photographing the adventures.
Jerry was the proud father of Brian Patrick Kassler (wife Amanda) of San Antonio, TX, Christopher Scott Kassler (wife Wendy) of Silverdale, WA, Lauren Jean Neale (husband Scott) of Cuming, GA, and Geoffrey Adam Kassler of Port Orchard, WA. He was Opa to his 5 treasured grandchildren: Jacob Daniel, Andrew Scott, and Elizabeth Caroline (Ellie) Neale, and Gweneth Frances (Gwen) and Sebastian Allan Kassler.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, George Wayne Kassler.
