Gary L. Tyree, 67, of Alamogordo, NM, passed away on December 18, 2023.
Gary, known lovingly as “Cowboy”, was born to Buford B. Tyree and Geneva Grassi (nee Robinson), on January 11, 1956, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Gary was a deeply spiritual man who shared God’s love with others. He lived a life full of travel, adventure, and light. He was a talented singer who had a passion for Elvis Presley. You could often catch him on stage with known artists or singing karaoke with his sister and brother-in-law. He was a hard worker and was always willing to learn new skills. As a man that ‘could fix it all’ he spent cherished years alongside his dear friend, Danny Portilo, in Spain repairing watercraft. He was loved and admired by friends and family and touched the lives of many. He was an example of a man driven by his purpose and faith in God. He would always challenge those around him to be the best version of themselves. Though he had a tough exterior, his heart was of gold. He would never hesitate to give his last to someone in need. Gary’s legacy will live on forever through the many stories and the memories of those who had the opportunity to know him.
He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
He is survived by his 7 children, Leyon Tyree, Elvis Dean (Deanna) Tyree, Tammie Tyree, Mandy (Nic) Moga, Jason (Megan) Tyree, Lisa Tyree-Pratt (Mike), and Clarissa Humm-Tyree (Mike); grandchildren, Joseph, Mason, Gabriel, Cheyenne, Aalise, Brianna, Wriley, Logen, Makenna, Harper, Izac, Maks; and a great granddaughter, Sabrina. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Tyree; sisters, Tina Tyree (Todd Kruse) and Dorie (Larry) Hammond. Gary also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. He carried close relationships especially with his niece, Laura Harris (Jeremy Alber); great nephew, Dominick Harris; and beloved brother-in-law, Todd.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Buford (Bob) and Geneva as well as a brother, David Grassi.
Per Gary’s wishes, there will be no services.
The Tyree family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
