Forrest E. Reames, age 61, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, July 23, 2024. Forrest was born March 7, 1963, to Mary and Fred Reames in El Dorado, Arkansas. His family moved to Clovis, New Mexico when he was young. Forrest attended school in Clovis and graduated from Clovis High School in 1981. He worked for the railroad, construction, and at the parks and recreation department for the City of Alamogordo during his life. Forrest loved playing softball as a first baseman and was cheered on by chants of “Run, Forrest, Run!” by his friends. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and he ran an annual fantasy football draft called Gump Fantasy Football.
Forrest is survived by his girlfriend, Gail Horton of Amarillo, TX; daughter, Aspyn Hayter (Robert) of Clovis, NM; three sisters, Sandra Jennings of Yukon, Oklahoma, Vicki Jones (Michael) of Las Cruces, NM, Donna Light of Las Cruces, NM; brother, Jimmy Light of Lubbock, TX; three nieces and two nephews, Erika Montoya (Alex) of Yukon, Oklahoma, Jeremy Roberts of Clovis, NM, Joshua Jones of Las Cruces, NM, Anika Jones-Schoenbaum (Brian) of Santa Fe, NM, Ruthie Light of Lubbock, TX; bonus granddaughters, Nevaeh and Alexis Fabela of Farwell, TX; half-brother, Travis Reames of El Dorado, Arkansas; multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Joann Light; father, Walter Light; biological father, Fred Reames; half-brother. Fred Reames, Jr.; and grandparents.
The family will have a Celebration of Life for Forrest in Clovis, NM surrounded by his loved ones and friends.
The Reames family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
