Esquipula "Skippy" Ruiz passed at the young age of 85 on March 24, 2023, in El Paso, Texas. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother, and uncle to his ever-growing family.
Esquipula was born June 18, 1937 to Juan Alderete Ruiz and Jacinta Adame in Colonia Reforma, Chihuahua, Mexico.
Esquipula worked tirelessly all his life starting at a young age having to step into the role as the "Man of the House" after losing his father at an early age. He provided for his family helping his mother Jacinta raise his brothers and sisters, Hector, Humberto, Manuel, Jesus, Elena, and Delia.
Then in 1954 he met the love of his life Elena Martinez, and they were married December 24, 1954 and celebrated their 68th anniversary of marriage prior to his passing. They had 4 children, Martha Murphy (Ralph), Jose Ruiz (Leticia), Maria Baros (Ivan), and Leo Ruiz (Judie). This union with Elena has grown into an enormous family he cherished every day consisting of 17 grandkids, Lupita, Pearl, Maribel, Marina, Jesus Jose “JJ”, Ivan Jr., Irma, Glinda, Savannah, Victor, Jeremiah, Michael, Erica, Adrian, Taylor, Cameron, Koby; 30 great grandkids and 6 great-great grandkids! He thanked God every day to be able to see his family grow and loved each and every one of them dearly.
"Skippy" as everyone knew him, was a hardworking man ALL his life and would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. He had many friends that he would stop to talk to anywhere he went and loved to chat with anyone who stopped to say hello. He was a well-respected man in the Alamogordo community and surrounding area and will be sorely missed by ALL his family and friends.
