Ernestina G Provencio

Ernestina G. Provencio, 84, passed away on December 1, 2025, in Alamogordo, NM. She was born on July 13, 1941, in Alamogordo, NM to Lazaro and Micaela Garcia.

Ernestina was preceded in death by her father and mother, Lazaro and Micaela Garcia; brothers, David and Lazaro (Junie) Garcia; sisters, Veronica (Betty) Viscarra, Margaret (Mague) Gonzales.

Ernestina was known by her early friends as Tiny and from her former job at Presto, as Ernie. She was a cherished loving, giving, big hearted mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, and friend to her family and to her many, many loved ones. Ernestina was a very devoted and religious Catholic. Teased by her son-in-law, Salvador Olayo, that she would get to church before God.

Ernestina is survived by her husband, Panta Provencio; daughter, Maria Garcia Olayo and son-in-law, Salvador Olayo; grandchildren, Michael Joseph Flores, Marcos Olayo, Andrew Paul Olayo, Frances Diane Olayo Benavidez, Salvador Olayo Jr (CJ); her sister, Mary Lou Gomez (Ruben); many nephews and nieces whom she loved with all her heart. Family was everything to her. Ernestina left a piece of her heart in everyone she touched. Her memory will live on forever in those who knew her.

Services for Ernestina Provencio will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The family will greet friends from 9:30 am to 10:00 am. Rosary will be recited at 10:00 am with Funeral Mass celebrated at 10:30 am. 

Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.

Reception will take place at the ICC Church Hall, potluck style.

The Provencio family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
