Elizabeth "Liz" Chappell Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Chappell, AKA "Liz", went home to her Heavenly Father April 21, 2024, at 40 years old. She was born on December 8, 1983, in Washington, DC and soon went home with her adoptive mother, Donna Chappell. When Elizabeth was placed in Donna's arms for the first time, a forever bond of love was formed between them that was often tried and tested but never broken.

When she was 9 years old, Elizabeth and her mom moved to Roswell, NM where she spent her childhood. She moved to Alamogordo as a young adult and lived there the rest of her life.

All her life Elizabeth loved music of all kinds, from lullabies to Christian hip-hop. She sang in her high school choir and performed with the Roswell Little Theater. Liz also enjoyed sports, especially basketball and soccer.

Above all else, Elizabeth's greatest passion was helping others. Whether she knew you for 10 years or 10 seconds, she was always willing to help. Her radiant smile, compassionate listening, and literally breathtaking hugs brought reassurance that there was someone that would love you just as you are. This is no surprise as her #1 love was and is and will forever be our Lord, and our God. In addition to one-to-one friendship, help, and mentoring, Liz also served at homeless shelters, food pantries, Kairos Outside Prison Ministry, and more.

She was a "cradle Catholic", baptized at St. Peter Church in D.C., then a member of St. Peter Church in Roswell, and finally, member of St. Jude Parish in Alamogordo.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her grandparents, Elizabeth and William Klingler; aunts, Carol Prizzi and Patricia Klingler; uncle, Robert Foley Sr.; and father-figure, Loyd Chappell.

She is survived by her mother, Donna; godbrother, Oscar Fisher; aunt, Ann Foley; uncles, George Prizzi, Philip Klingler and Michael Klingler; aunts, Carol Ann Klingler and Marianne Klingler; also, best friend and soul sister, Clara Nunez; along with many cousins, countless friends she made throughout her life, and her beloved protector and comforter, her dog, Remy.

A Funeral Mass and Inurnment will be held at St. Jude Parish, 1404 College Avenue, Alamogordo, NM on Saturday, May 25,2024, at 11:00 am followed by a reception at Runners Refuge, 601 Delaware Ave., Alamogordo.
