Edna Parker Obituary

Edna Louise Waller Parker passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025. She was born in Tularosa, New Mexico on October 19, 1934. She married Fred Lloyde Parker in 1953, and the two were happily married for 63 years. Louise and Fred Lloyde loved dancing together. They could be found two-stepping or waltzing at every family gathering and regularly parting the crowd with their skills. They also spent many years traveling around the United States, visiting court houses and churches in support of their deep commitment to their family genealogy. After resisting a home computer for many years, Louise fully embraced the power of the internet and ancestry sites to expand her genealogy work even further. Family archives were documented into the late 1700s with five generations of family members. Louise loved connecting with friends and relatives in person as well as online, and she was well known for her daily Facebook and Snapchat messages.

Louise spent the early years of her marriage taking care of four kids and their many school, athletic, and 4-H programs and livestock projects. Once her kids were older, she went to work at Texas New Mexico Power company as a clerk and supervisor until she retired in 1992. Not only was she a valued member of the company, but she helped take care of electrical service for her community and took special interest in helping customers, particularly young women, who may have been learning about home ownership for the first time.

Louise took special pride in her home. She kept it meticulously clean and tidy while still making everyone in it comfortable. She loved her rose bushes, keeping every petal in order, while Fred Lloyde grew vegetables in the garden. At their home in Tularosa, they grew pecans that were gathered, shelled, and baked into her famous pecan pies during the holidays. Sugar water could always be found in the fridge for her hummingbirds, and wind chimes could be heard outside on windy days. Inside the house, Louise’s epic clock collection ticked, clicked, and chimed alongside her prized grandfather clock.

Louise was a wonderful cook who loved to make meals for friends, family, and neighbors. She was best known for her Sunday morning pancakes with powdered sugar (or any other topping her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren could imagine), and her cheese ball was a must-have at every gathering. Louise excelled at making Southern meals and New Mexico-style green chile enchiladas. She baked cookies for her grandkids before they started school each year, and she made chocolate and peanut butter fudge for Christmas.

Louise loved nothing more than taking care of her family. She relished having everyone together for birthdays and holidays. When she wasn’t playing Spinner or celebrating her latest Yahtzee, she could be seen smiling and talking with every guest in her house to make sure she was up to date on their latest activities.

Louise is survived by her sisters, Joyce Waller Holland and Patty Rea; her son, Gary Parker; her daughters, Ronda Norfleet and Robin Salazar; her grandchildren, Sami, Jeremy, Kyle, John, Staci, Sara, Alix, and Parker; and her great grandchildren, Cauy, Layne, Emily, Ciara, Dillon, Seth, Rylee, Bryce, Jacelynn, Kaleah, Grayson, Adalina, Cook, Addyson, Mariano, and Weatherford; and her many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Lloyde Parker; her brother, Ernest Waller; her daughter, Karen Cunningham; sons-in-law, Steve Cunningham and Sammy Salazar; and her grandson, Sean Cunningham.
