Desiree Duran Obituary

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of our beautiful daughter, Desiree Angele Duran or “Des” as she liked to be called. Her incredible light was extinguished unexpectedly on July 23, 2024. Desiree was born December 17, 2006, in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She was a student at Alamogordo High School with many friends, a loving family, and a devoted boyfriend who unfortunately passed away with her.

Surviving family members include her parents, Robert “Bobby J" or "Bob” and Cori Duran; her brothers, Alejandro Duran, Bobby Duran and his wife Judith; 2 nieces and 2 nephews; grandmothers, Lina Duran and Paula Rich-Greenwood; aunt, Dani Alpers and her husband Doug; uncle, Marty Shepperd; as well as Scrappy, her baby dog.

Desiree was a beautiful energetic soul who was independent, loving, loyal, smart, funny, shy, artistic, and outgoing. The list could go on and on to describe what a wonderful person she was inside and out. During her 17 years of life, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends hanging out. Desiree liked to try her hand at cooking and baking, playing on the Xbox, watching movies, shopping (for hello kitty stuff, lol), making videos and selfies on her phone, dancing, playing basketball, and playing with her dog Scrappy. She was also part of various teams throughout the community. As a child, Desiree worked and performed with The Academy of Ballet at the Flickenger doing ballet and tap. As an adolescent and teen, she progressed to becoming a member of Showtime “Strykers” dance team and Showtime “Royalty” cheer squad. She also played basketball as a member of the team “Otero County Lady Rebels”. One of her proudest achievements was getting her first job as a cashier at Walmart.

Desiree is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Charlie Duran Jr.; great grandfather, Samuel Brusuelas; great grandmother, Genoveva Brusuelas; maternal great grandfather, Angelo Rich Jr.; great grandmother, Charmayne Davis; uncle, Randy Rich.
