David Lopez

David Lopez, age 74, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024, at Sierra Vista Hospital in Truth or Consequences, NM. Born on August 23, 1950, in Carrizozo, NM, to Josefita Barela Lopez and Rafael Marrujo Lopez, David lived a life marked by service, passion, and devotion to family.

A 1969 graduate of Carrizozo High School, David served his country in the U.S. Army, earning an honorable discharge. He then dedicated ten years to the State of New Mexico at Fort Stanton before retiring due to health reasons.

David found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and motorcycle riding in his younger years, and a lifelong fisherman. If he wasn't by the lake, you would find him at home, immersed in westerns or wrestling on TV, diligently maintaining his fishing gear.

David's legacy lives on through his family. He is survived by his first wife, Helen Padilla and their daughter, Anna Lopez, along with four grandchildren: Cynthia Aragon, Helen Aragon, Ray Vaiza, and Daniel Vaiza. He also leaves behind his second wife, Antonia Rodriguez and their children, Vicente Lopez and wife Jessica, Cristobal Lopez, and Alexandra Lopez, as well as grandchildren: Christopher Jr., Tia, Andrew, Wyatt, Roman Padilla, and Baby Girl Padilla. David is also survived by his siblings: Carmen Burch, George Guebara and wife Frances, Ralph (Crow) Lopez, Leroy Lopez, and Rosemary Lopez. He was predeceased by his brothers, Felix Guebara and sisters, Macrina "Kina" Candelaria and Carol Sanchez.

David’s memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

Services for David Lopez will be held at Santa Rita Catholic Church in Carrizozo on Saturday, May 3, 2025. Rosary will be recited at 10:00 am with Mass celebrated at 10:30 am. Graveside will follow services at Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery.
