David E. Guinn

David E. Guinn passed away at the age of 84 on October 7, 2022. It was his wish that his obituary not be listed until his wife Zepha E. Guinn passed, so they could be announced together.

David had a long and storied career. He served in the Marine Corps, sold insurance to G.I.s, and owned businesses ranging from sign making to pool cleaning. He was popularly known as “Mr. G.”, and incorporated this familiar nickname into the titles of many of his businesses.

In the 1980s, David met and later married Zepha Painter (née Gum). They enjoyed going to the casinos, where David’s “sure-fire system” of choosing which slots were ready to pay off saw him win, or at least break even, often enough to never doubt it. He had a terrific knack of knowing when to quit when he was ahead.

David’s ashes were interred along with Zepha’s in the forested mountains of Ruidoso, with his step family in attendance. Zepha loved David dearly, and his love for Zepha will long be remembered. He will be missed by family and friends.

The Guinn family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
