David Richard Gomez passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the age of 54. He was born on July 19, 1969, in West Covina, California to Pedro Gomez and Maria Veila (Marquez) Gomez, both from El Paso Texas.
Survivors include his loving wife of 10 years, Sandra Urban-Gomez of Alamogordo, NM; father, Pedro Gomez Sr. of Alamogordo/El Paso, TX; three sons, Michael Gomez of Alamogordo/Las Cruces, NM, David Gomez Jr. of Woodland, CA, Xaiver Gomez of Manfield, MO; two daughters, Crystal Gomez (Kevin Hancock) of Woodland, CA, Isabel Monique Gomez of Alamogordo/Las Cruces, NM; furbabies, Trixie (3), Luna (10 months); 4 grandchildren, Kevin (9), Cheryl (11 months), David Gomez 2nd (6) of Woodland, CA, and William (8) from Orville, CA; two brothers, Pedro Gomez Jr. (Selina) of Las Cruces, NM, Juan Gomez (Bertha) of Plymouth, MN; two sisters, Cynthia Montenegro of Phoenix AZ, Teresa Ramirez (Edward) of Tucson, AZ; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; his brother-in-law, Joe Urban (Sophia) of Alamogordo, NM; his best friend, Simon Montenegro (Angie) of Phoenix, AZ; his neighborhood buddies, Marcus Jones, Angelo Smith, Arturo Hernandez and several other friends from Alamogordo, NM; several homies from El Paso, TX, CA , Phoenix, Tucson,
and FL.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Maria Veila (Marquez) Gomez; aunt, Maria Luisa (Gomez) Padilla; niece, Sesie Montenegro; uncles, Rosalio, Rudulfo, Modesto, and Santos Gomez, Manny Padilla Sr.; and recent passing of aunt, Lucia Otilia (Marquez) Tejeda 10/23/23.
David was well known for his swimming pool plaster and masonry skills throughout the communities of Alamogordo, Sacramento, CA, Phoenix, Tucson, and FL. He also worked with Ruiz Roofing and General Hydronics for a short period of time in Alamogordo, NM. David had many things he enjoyed in his lifetime when he got the chance. He loved the Heavenly Father first, even though he drifted apart from time to time. David also loved being around his friends and family, and being the life of the party, dancing, singing, and laughing all while surrounded by the people he truly cared about. David also liked to enjoy kicking back at home or in his truck listening to his oldies. He would often do those things with his father, listening to the music, drinking his cold ones and smoking on his greenery. He also loved kicking it with his neighborhood buddies across the street. David had many other things he would enjoy like bowling, fishing, boonie busting, watching cartoons, playing with the dogs, and making tamales and cookies during the holidays with his loved ones. David is going to be dearly missed these coming holidays.
Services for David Gomez will be held at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church in La Luz on Saturday, November 4, 2023. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. Rosary will be recited at 10:30 am with Mass celebrated at 11:00 am.
A reception will follow services at the Moose Lodge.
Pallbearers include Michael Gomez, David Gomez, Xaiver Gomez, Pedro Gomez, Juan Gomez, and Edward Ramirez.
Honorary pallbearers are Simon Montenegro, Eddie Ramirez Jr., Sonny Montenegro Jr., Isaiah Montenegro, Joseph Montenegro, and Marcus Tornstrom.
The Gomez family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
