In Loving Memory of David Otto Bellows.

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of David Otto Bellows on July 16, 2026. A devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather and great grandfather, Dave leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, and strength.

Born in Alamogordo to Forest Otto Bellows and Ola Inez Galyeon, Dave grew up with a strong work ethic and an unshakable sense of responsibility. He dedicated many years to local construction businesses, building not only homes and structures but also a reputation for honesty, craftsmanship, and dedication. In his forties and through his retirement, he served in the Structure Shop for the 49th Civil Engineering at Holloman Air Force Base. His hands were calloused from labor, yet they were always gentle when holding his grandchildren and great grandchildren or helping family or neighbors in need.

Dave found the love of his life, Helen Bain, and they married on November 13, 2002. He quickly learned how busy life would be. Together, they built their home with their own hands... of it was done by them except the electrical. He was so proud of the home that they had created together.

Dave believed in the dignity of hard work and the value of keeping one’s word. He took immense pride in every beam he set and every foundation he poured, knowing his work would stand for generations. Outside of work, he found joy in fishing at Caballo, tending his garden, hunting, Nascar Racing, ol’ blue...his GMC truck, and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys. Above all else, he cherished time spent with his beloved family.

Dave is survived by his wife of almost twenty-four years, Helen Bellows. He is also survived by his children, Melissa Reynolds and Eric Rutherford of Alamogordo, and Bobby Bellows of Lubbock, TX. Dave leaves behind twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is survived by his brother, Bill Bellows of Wyoming; two of his sisters, Mickey Sidwell of Alabama and Rennie Parshall of Kansas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will forever carry his lessons, laughter, and love in their hearts.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Gorman and Pat Bellows; sisters, Loretta Parks and Doris Davis. We know that Chloe, his dog, was awaiting him on the other side.

A celebration of Dave’s life will be held by close family and friends at a later date to share stories and honor the man who built so much more than buildings, he built a profound legacy of love, integrity, and strength.

Rest easy, Papa. Your work here is done, but your foundation will never crumble.
