Daniel R. Lucero

Daniel R. Lucero, age 79, of La Luz, New Mexico went to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 22, 2024, at home surrounded by family.

Daniel was born to the late Daniel Lucero Sr. and Presiliana in Picacho, NM on April 11, 1945. He was married to Cecilia Lucero on May 30, 1964. 

Daniel was a lifelong truck driver and lumberjack. He enjoyed being in the mountains surrounded by family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, and brother. He had many names, Dad and Papo were his favorite.

He is preceded in death by his father, Daniel Lucero Sr.; his brothers, Salomon Lucero and Rudy Lucero; his sister, Amelia Garcia; four half-sisters; two stepsisters. 

He is survived by his wife, Cecilia Lucero of 60 years; his mom, Presciliana Lucero; sister, Julia Garcia. He has four children, Danette Lucero-Hopkin, Dodie Addington (Keith), Danny Lucero (Angel), Gilbert Lucero (Gracie); 13 grandchildren, Christina Hopkin, Stephanie Hopkin (Jeremy), Audrey McSweeney (Ryan), Michael Hopkin, Eli Addington (Samantha), Elaine Addington, Delbert Lucero (Sefora), Adrianna Beatty (Tyler), Danny Lucero, Gilbert Lucero (Ashley), ShoVonn Lucero, Christian Chacon, Cruz Lucero; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition, he left his legacy to 17 great grandchildren. 

He was always known as the life of the party and will be missed by all. 

Rosary for Daniel Lucero will be recited at 10:30 am, Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church in La Luz with Mass celebrated at 11:00 am with Father Patrick Montgomery, Celebrant.

Everyone is welcome to join us after services at the Fraternal Order of Eagles at 471 24th St. in Alamogordo.
