Charlie B Montoya

Charlie B. Montoya, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on June 9, 2023, at the age of 94. Charlie was born in Hollywood, New Mexico and graduated from Hondo High School in 1948. Charlie was a proud US Army veteran having served on the front line in Korea. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and enjoyed spending time with fellow veterans. Charlie was a quiet man who was the happiest when he was outdoors working on his yard, walking around the neighborhood or spending time at his family home in Ruidoso Downs. Charlie loved to dance and spent many weekends dancing at the VFW. 

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Maria Montoya and his wife, Eva V. Montoya of 53 years. His only surviving sibling is Olila Sandoval and her husband Manuel of Lompoc, CA. Charlie is survived by his children, Rosemary White, Dorothy Murphy, Charles Montoya, and John Montoya (Barbara) and his niece, Evelyn Rodriguez who was raised as a daughter.  

He had 10 grandchildren, Rebecca Garcia (Vincent), Joe Scholz (Alayne), Dara Fierro (Chrisanto), Brandi Beamish (Richard), Briana Currie (Aaron), Amber Montoya (Jordan), Sean Montoya, Chad Viscarra (Jennifer), Ryan Rodriguez (Anissa), Deanna Rodriguez; as well as 12 great grandchildren, Dexter, Zoe, Padraic, Skylor, Mason, Ellie, Preston, Vivian, Isaac, Ryan Jr., Miranda, and Reese.

Services will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 705 Delaware Ave. Visitation with family will be at 9:30 am, Rosary at 10:00 am, and Mass at 11:00 am. Graveside service will be held at 12:00 pm at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery followed by a reception at the VFW Post 7686, 700 Hwy 70 West.

The Montoya family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
