Catherine Schulz Obituary

Catherine Nadine (Green) Schulz, 62, of Alamogordo, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Friday, January 8th, 2021 after a lengthy battle with lung cancer.

Born on February 10th, 1958 in Saverne, France, Catherine was the eldest daughter of TSGT Boyd Green, USAF of Sacramento, CA and Nicole Green of Hultehouse, France. Due to her father being stationed in Europe, she spent many of her growing up years with French relatives and traveled extensively in France and other European countries. She enlisted in the Air Force at age 19, and during her service she met her future husband Daniel Schulz. After Daniel’s retirement at Holloman Air Force Base, they resided in Alamogordo, NM for their remaining 32 years of marriage. Daniel and Catherine have two children, Robert and Susan.

Catherine poured her heart into her hobbies and interests over the years to include leadership in the Boy Scouts of America and extensively researching her family’s genealogy. She was especially proud to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Education from New Mexico State University in 2010 and become a teacher in the Alamogordo Public School System.

Above all, Catherine loved her children and family and always put them first. She was a dedicated wife, daughter, sister, and the most amazing mother to her children. She always went above and beyond to make every occasion special and fostered numerous family traditions that will live on for generations.

Catherine was blessed to share her abounding love with hundreds of students, teachers, parents, and staff via her 20+ year career in the school system. She will always be remembered by her playful and innocent nature, thoughtfulness and deep love she carried for her colleagues and especially all of her “kids”.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Nicole Green, and survived by spouse, Daniel; two children, Robert Schulz of Fort Collins, CO, and Susan Pilkenton (Rob) of Sealy, TX; sisters, Debbie Gipson (Roy) of Los Angeles, CA, and Natalie Dianda (Al) of Sacramento, CA; brother, Scott Green of Maui, HI; brothers-in-law, Allen Schulz (Sharon) of Cologne, MN, Marlo Schulz (Gail) of St. Cloud, MN and sister-in-law, Jerilyn Honl (Gary) of Gaylord, MN; aunt and uncle Marie-Jeanne and Marc Rauch of Moussan, France; as well as a loving group of extended family and friends.

A virtual memorial will take place online via Zoom on January 30th at 10:00am MST. Information to join the event will be distributed to family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Catherine can be made online to the City of Hope at https://www.cityofhope.org/donate-in-honor-or-in-memory.
