Betty Smith Rahn Obituary

Betty Anna Smith Rahn, 92, passed away on December 19, 2020 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She was born on March 9, 1928 in Elgin, Illinois to her parents G. Proctor Smith and Evelyn Marie Smith. Betty was married to the love of her life, Richard Carl Rahn, for 65 years. Survivors include her son, David L. Rahn (Patricia) and daughter, Julie A. Rahn Thomas (Kent). Due to her husband's military career she worked in both the United States and France. Her many positions included secretary, accountant, administrative aide, counselor - both hiring and firing applicants, and file clerk. 

Betty was ordained to the Gospel Ministry in 1998 and went into the missionary field at the age of 70 years. Her passion was to serve the Lord. Betty is a Charter Member of Cottonwood Christian Fellowship in Alamogordo and has served as an Elder for 17 years. She has taught Bible studies both in her church and in her home for over 35 years.

Betty was known for her gift of painting and New Mexico was her background for many of her works. She was awarded the distinguished "Woman of Merit" in 2012 at the Flickinger Center in Alamogordo.

Betty dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Children are the love of her life. Betty will be greatly missed by family and friends. She has lived in Alamogordo since 1954.
