Barbara Lee Anderson Obituary
In Loving Memory of Barbara Lee Anderson
Barbara Lee Anderson, 70, of Alamogordo, New Mexico passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord on June 25, 2026. She was born on March 27, 1956, in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Charles Monroe Anderson and Norma Frances Anderson.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Gary Anderson.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Ryan Ferguson (Christy) of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Lynsey Jones (Cody) of Phoenix, Arizona; and by the five grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy: Charlie Sue, Teagan, Blake, Sydney Cooper, and Ryker.
Barbara's faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. A devoted member of Cuba Avenue Church of Christ, now Desert Hills Church of Christ, for four decades, she found strength, encouragement, and lifelong friendships within her church family. She especially cherished attending worship alongside her beloved mother.
Barbara learned the value of hard work while working alongside her father at Gibson's. That experience prepared her for many years of managing Granada Shopping Center with her mother, Norma. Her creativity also found expression through Country Collectibles, her consignment and gift shop, where she sold antiques, handcrafted décor, and beautifully hand-lettered creations she made. Barbara had beautiful handwriting that became something of a family trademark, a gift lovingly passed down to both of her children. She faithfully marked birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and life's milestones with handwritten cards and thoughtful notes that reminded others they were remembered and loved.
Although she worked diligently throughout her life, Barbara's greatest calling was being a mother. She rarely missed a soccer game, traveling countless miles to cheer on Ryan and Lynsey. Later, she lovingly devoted herself to caring full-time for her mother, faithfully serving Norma with patience, compassion, and unwavering love.
Barbara had a gift for making people feel at home. Countless friends of Ryan and Lynsey came through her door and quickly discovered they had gained a second mom. She welcomed everyone with kindness, laughter, encouragement, and genuine love. Those who knew Barbara will remember her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. She loved to laugh. She enjoyed lively games of Canasta, treasured antiques and collected beautiful Blue Delft.
Above all else, Barbara loved her family. She loved her mother deeply. She loved being "Mom" and "Mamaw." Most importantly, she loved her Savior. While her family grieves her absence, they rejoice in the assurance that she is at home with the Lord she faithfully followed throughout her life.
A memorial service celebrating Barbara's life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 10:00 am at Desert Hills Church of Christ in Alamogordo, New Mexico, with Al Maxey officiating. Family and friends are warmly invited to remain after the service for a time of fellowship and light refreshments as they share memories and celebrate Barbara's remarkable life.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:23
