Anita S (Saenz) Guerra

Anita S Guerra, 83, peacefully went to be with the Lord on February 11, 2021 in Tularosa, NM. She was born on October 17, 1937 in Nogal Canyon, NM to Alvino and Pilar Saenz. 

Anita was a graduate of Tularosa High School. She continued to live in Nogal Canyon, NM while she worked at The Inn of the Mountain Gods and The New Mexico School of the Blind and Visually Impaired until she met her husband, Reynaldo (Chocho) Guerra whom she married relocating to Tularosa, NM. Anita retired from The New Mexico School of the Blind and Visually Impaired. Anita enjoyed going to the casinos, traveling to all her grandkids sporting events, and learning new crafts to enjoy and share with her family. 

Survivors include, children: Priscilla (Rick) Chavez, Bertha Guerra (Anthony Betancur) of Tularosa, NM and Selena Oliver (Eric Chavez) of Las Cruces, NM; (former) son-in-law, Jesse Oliver of Las Cruces, NM; brother, George (Kita) Saenz from Mescalero, NM; many nieces and nephews; eight grandchildren: Christopher JoeRay, Drianna Rae Chavez, Clarisa Nichole, Bethany Rose, Anthony Joseph (AJ) Betancur, Brittany Marie, Audrey Anna, Savanna Monique Oliver; seven great grandchildren, Xavier, Xander, Eric Jr. Amaya, Azalea, Aziyra, Azean, Azius Melendrez. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reynaldo (Chocho) Guerra; father, Alvino and mother, Pilar Saenz; sister, Dora Esquibel; brothers, Camillo Saenz, Alvino Saenz JR and Raymond Saenz; granddaughter, Nichole Rose Josephine Betancur. 
 
The graveside service for Anita will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery in Bent, New Mexico with Father David Mercer, Celebrant. Due to the COVID Pandemic, attendance at the graveside is limited to 5 people. Please practice social distancing at all times. Thank you for adhering to the Department of Health mandate.
 
Pallbearers include Christopher JoeRay Chavez, Anthony Joseph (Aj) Betancur, Xavier, Xander, Eric Jr. Amaya, Azean, Azius Melendrez. 

The family would like to especially thank the nurses of Ambercare Hospice, Teresa and Nichole.

The Guerra family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the services.
