Adelina P. Najera, 80, a lifelong resident of Mountain Park and Alamogordo, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 1, 2023. Adelina was born March 28, 1943, in Alamogordo.
As the eldest of eighteen children, Adelina was like a second Mom to her siblings. Her greatest joy was to spoil her siblings, her nieces and nephews (they loved to call her Tia Lulu), and her children. She worked hard to provide for her children and to give them the opportunity to further their education and ultimately graduate from college.
Adelina is survived by her husband of 49 years, James Najera; children, Marie and husband, Aaron Velasco, of Santa Fe, and Ben Najera and girlfriend Beverly Medlin of Santa Fe. Adelina is also survived by her siblings, Mike and wife Leticia, sister-in-law, Florence Silva, Ben, Tony, Juan and wife Dawn, Carmen and husband Roy Porter, Cecilia, Vince and wife Heather, Bob and wife Cathy, Pete and wife Pina, Sylvia and husband Felix Aguilar, Josie, and Marty and wife Barbie; her sisters-in-law, Mary Najera, and Catherine and husband Bud Duryea, Yvette Najera, Eduvina Najera, and Miguel Maynez.
Adelina is preceded in death by her son, Jaime Juan; her parents, Benigno and Josefina; her brothers, Danny, Ed, and George Silva; her sisters, Ramona Silva and Terry Reyes; her brothers-in-law, Joe and Juan Najera; sisters-in-law, Socorro Silva, Andrea Silva, and Helen Maynez.
A celebration of her life will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Thursday, January 25, 2024, with Fr. Martin Cornejo, Celebrant. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Rosary will be recited at 10:30 am with Mass to follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.
Our Mama was small in stature but mighty in spirit. Adelina is now at peace with her loved ones in heaven and can dance again.
The Najera family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
