Nicholas Clyde Garcia, father, son, grandson, brother, nephew, uncle, and friend to many, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022 in Tularosa, NM.
Nick was born on April 27, 1989 to Simon Garcia and Leslie Adamson. He was born with blonde hair that just never seemed to behave and would stick up every which way. He always tried to keep up with his big brother, Daniel. Daniel and his grandma loved to play cards. When Nick was two years old, he asked if he could join in the card game. His grandma gently told him that he was too young, he wouldn’t recognize the numbers on the cards, and couldn’t play just yet. That night, Nick went home and to everyone’s amazement, he learned all the numbers so he could play the next day with his brother and grandma. It was no surprise to anyone in the family that he learned to read and write at a young age. He was so incredibly smart. Everyone called him “Nicko,” a name that stuck with him always.
Nick loved participating in sports for Tularosa High School and was a proud graduate of the class of 2007. Although he wasn’t large in stature, he was the center for the Wildcat football team and was tough as nails. He also was on the track team participating in hurdles, javelin and pole vault.
Nick lived his life in the fast lane. He loved to ride motorcycles, drive way too fast and was an accomplished bull rider. His friends knew that a day spent with Nick, was going to be an adventure.
Over the years, Nick showed how talented he was in his art. He was a great artist and loved graffiti. He designed beautiful headache racks using a plasma cutter. He was also a very talented mechanic and was always eager to help people with their cars. He took great pride in always doing his best and was quite meticulous.
Nick was a family man. His family meant so much to him. He checked in on his family quite often, helping with yard work, doing odd maintenance jobs and of course enjoying a cup of coffee when the job was done. He remodeled his grandma’s bathroom, and she was proud, and loved it. He also enjoyed spending time with his sisters and always made sure to give his brother Daniel a hard time.
Nick was most proud of his role as a father. Nick loved his kids and loved to share their successes and memories together with other people. He made every moment count with his kids, teaching them about manners and showing them how to treat others with kindness. His children will be his most beautiful legacy, because they will be compassionate, loving, and hardworking, just like their father.
Nicholas is preceded in death by his brother, Daniel “Bud” Garcia; his father, Simon Garcia; his great grandmother, Tiburcia Beltran; his paternal grandpa, Ysidro Garcia; his maternal grandparents, Richard and Patricia Smith; and his aunt, Tami Kelly.
He is survived by his mother, Leslie Moffett; his children, Richard, Michael, Janean, Ysidro, Aerabella, and McKenna; his paternal grandmother, Pauline Garcia; his maternal grandfather, Jerry Adamson; his sisters, Hollyann Ruspoli, Angelica Liggon (Julian) and Sierra Collins; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
