Dawn Olazaba Obituary

Dawn Elaine Olazaba, 65, passed away August 3rd, 2022 at home in Alamogordo, NM surrounded by those closest to her. She was born August 30th, 1956 to Dixie Mace and Donald Long. She grew up in Indiana with her earliest years being spent with her doting grandmother, Ardith Long. She was brought to New Mexico in the early 80's by her first husband, James Inman.

Dawn is survived by her loving husband, Oscar Olazaba; her two sisters, Pam Fryer and Susan Sawyer; three brothers, Jeff Bacon, Blaine Bacon and Grant Bacon; her children, James Inman and his wife Melanie, her beloved former daughter-in-law Melinda Mullin, daughter Leah Silva and her husband Joaquin, and daughter Kathleen Olazaba; her grandchildren, Vivienne Daigre and husband Taylor; Emily Silva and husband Geoffrey Knox, Gabriel Inman, Alec Silva, Ivan Inman, and Izik Inman; three great grandchildren, Luna, Kairi and Ares.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents; her father, Don Long; her mother, Dixie Bacon; her stepdad, Gordon Bacon; and great grandson, Jasper Gonzales.

Dawn had a flair for interior design and decoration. She enjoyed looking for new creative ways to organize her collection of goodies and found inspiration everywhere. She loved to paint and move furniture and was always redecorating. Reading became one of her cherished pastimes and she found solace in mystery and adventure novels. She had a truly infectious laugh that will be sorely missed by many.

In lieu of gifts and/or flowers, the family recommends you take your grandmother or mother for lunch and quality time. Following her wishes, there will not be any services. The family will gather at a later date.
