Veronica Betancur Luevano known as Betty Luevano, age 82, has left us on Saturday, May 27, 2023, to be with the Lord.
Betty was born March 13, 1941, in Tularosa, NM, to Victor and Vicenta (Mendoza) Betancur. She was involved with St. Francis Catholic Church when she taught CCD, a member of the Sacred Heart League, she enjoyed her time as a choir member, and was a Guadalupana. During her working career, she worked with the Tularosa schools as a cook, at the Inn of the Mountain Gods as a Cashier, caregiver of elderly neighbors, and as a sorter at Heart of the Desert Pistachios.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Barbara Luevano and son, John Luevano, Jr. as well as her grandchildren, Mario Monreal (Savannah), Leticia Monreal, Angelica Luevano, Samantha L. Andres; great grandson, J'don Monreal; brothers, Paz Betancur and Victor Betancur (Lucy) along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
Betty is preceded in death by her father, Victor Betancur; mother, Vicenta, Betancur; her middle son, Richard D. Luevano; her eldest brother and his wife, Victor (Chuey) and Virginia (Virgie) Betancur; her youngest sister, Victoria (Vickie) Betancur Estrada; her oldest sister, Maria Betancur Briseño and husband, Raymond Briseño, Sr. and their son, Raymond J. Briseño, Jr.; her sister-in-law, Francis (Pancha) Pino Betancur; and an adopted son, Orlando McKinley, Jr.
Rosary, Funeral Mass, and burial will be celebrated at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church in Tularosa on Thursday, June 08, 2023. Viewing will begin at 9:30 am with Rosary following at 10:30 am, Funeral Mass at 11:00 am, and interment immediately following at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
The Luevano family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
