It is with sadness that we, the Cohoe and Shultz families, announce the passing of Dottie Grace Filips. She was predeceased by her first husband, Watkins “Ken” Flournoy Cohoe; her husband at the time of his death, Gerard “Gerry” Filips; her son, Charles Cohoe; and her grandson, John Charles Cohoe.
Grace was born in 1936 and lived a full life. A practicing artist from a young age, she also taught, owned a frame shop, and worked in antiques before retiring with Gerry to Alamogordo, NM. There she took up charity work with Altrusa, the ladies auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus, and the Elks, and volunteered at St. Jude Mission until her health forced her to stop.
She is survived by a loving family and a great many friends, too many to name. She will be greatly missed.
Rosary for Grace will be recited at 10:15 am on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at St. Jude Parish Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 14, 2023 at St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Marcel Okonkwo, Celebrant.
Interment will follow services at St. Jude Parish Columbarium.
The Filips family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the National Art Education Association in her name.
